Peripheral Artery Disease Doctor Miami (786) 500-5347 – PAD Treatment Specialist Aventura Florida
Miami Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Treatment Doctor
PAD Medical Procedures:
The goal of P.A.D. treatment is to reopen the clogged arteries. We offer two different treatment options, both of which we perform in-office using a local anesthesia. Treatment type depends on your unique body and individual needs.
Angioplasty and Stenting (Nonsurgical Procedure) – A catheter is used to insert a small balloon into your artery. Once placed at the clog, it’s inflated and opens the artery improving blood flow. A stent (small metal mesh tube) is placed to keep the artery open.
Atherectomy – A special catheter is used to remove the plaque and collect it into a chamber in the tip of the catheter thereby removing or greatly reducing the blockage from the artery.

About PAD
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is believed to affect over 10 million people, especially those over 50. It is a circulatory problem caused by narrowed arteries that limit blood flow to your extremities – most often your legs. PAD occurs as fatty deposits (plaque) on artery walls causing a progressive thickening of the artery’s lining. This, in turn, causes the artery to narrow, which then restricts and potentially blocks, blood flow. This is the same process that leads to heart attack, except that it is happening in the legs.
